The Shifty Planet of Dr. Strange to Screen at the 2012 Myrtle Beach International Film Festival

[March 18, 2012 – Los Angeles, CA] The Shifty Planet of Dr. Strange has been chosen to screen at the 2012 Myrtle Beach International Film Festival, which runs from April 20th to April 28th, 2012.  The will play at 2:30pm on Closing Day, April 28th, at the Carmike Cinema 16 Broadway.

The Shifty Planet of Dr. Strange concerns the strange life of conspiracy theorist Edward Kelly.  On the eve of his plan to release top secret government documents to the press, Edward is convinced by his only friend to go out on the town. What ensues is both hilarious and tragic, and results in Edward becoming an ironic cult icon for the ages.

“We are so thrilled to have been selected for the Myrtle Beach International Film Festival!  We cannot wait to screen the film for our second festival audience,” said director Ross Louis Klein.

Myrtle Beach International Film Festival’s goal is to provide an outlet for projects that represent the Independent Film Maker, their vision, views, and artistic interpretation. Now in it’s 7th year, MBIFF has continued to grow every year. Selected by Movie Maker Magazine as one of the top “25 Film Festivals Worth the Submission Fee” last year, “One of the Top Festivals in the World” by Film International, and touted by many as one of the most important independent film festivals in the circuit, MBIFF is passionate about film, and it shows!

The Shifty Planet of Dr. Strange began as a short story by Samantha Vail, a good friend of director Ross Louis Klein at Emerson College.  Ross decided to adapt it into a film for his thesis project at Emerson, and began preproduction on the film in January 2011. The film was shot for $3,500 during March and April of 2011, had a cast and crew of more than forty people, and shot at over a dozen locations, including a police station, hospital and library in Boston and New York.  The film was recently given an Award of Merit by the Accolade Film Competition, and made its World Premiere at the 2012 Bare Bones International Film Festival.
